Third day of quitting smoking cigarettes. My cough has almost disappeared over night. It’s still there but has drastically reduced what I was coughing

From the past two days. It’s a relief honestly. I’m not missing cigarettes either, but I do miss the mini trips outside to get fresh air. I can factor that in for fresh air shortly.

@Mindful I’m sorry for your loss.

@MrAboo oh noooo she coughs excessively. I’m allergic to smoke so she doesn’t smoke around me, but I feel like it’s probably her smoking. But About 5 years ago I did lose an acquaintance to lung cancer. She was married to my friend, but we only shared occasional dinners. I didn’t know her that well? She lived with an oxygen tank the last 3 years of her life. It’s a unique tragedy- no one starts smoking believing it could end their lives.

@Mindful I knew it was a bad idea to smoke, but I started because I needed to relax myself after a day/night of commercial trucking. The job was stressful, but I didn’t stay with it long. I continued smoking after for a few months then started again because the voices in my head last October said they’d be gone sooner if I started smoking: they stopped on their own and now I am stopping because of health problems starting that I don’t want to have develop further. I used to work with an older lady who smoked, and coughed way to much. I don’t want that.

I’m glad your friend is still alive. I’d encourage you to help her quit, but no one can make some one quit outside of their own will.
