which star wars was the worst one?

I always watch the star wars movies around the holidays. rewatching them all i gotta say, the disney star wars movies are the worst. and episode 9 is the worst of the worst lol. that movie is a complete mess
Phantom Menace.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Out of the eleven Star Wars movies to date, I would rank them in this order:
1. Return of the Jedi
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. A New Hope
4. Rogue One
5. Solo: A Star Wars Story
6. The Force Awakens
7. The Phantom Menace (solely due to Qui-Gon Jin)
8. Revenge of the Sith
9. Attack of the Clones
10. The Rise of Skywalker
11. The Last Jedi

I didn't hate any of the movies. I found something to enjoy in all of them. But Episode VIII had the most frustrating decisions and poorly thought out moments of the movies in my opinion.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@NoahB I always have trouble choosing between Empire and Return for my top spot. Every time I watch one, I think it's my favorite, until I watch the other and then change my mind lol
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick I think phantom menace improves a good bit of you accept the dark lord jar jar fan theories. And the breakdowns of Qui-Gon's death making all the difference for the path anakin would walk is actually quite enlightening. I also think 8 was the worst movie. You could literally make a Rey training montage, show smoke doing and the Kylo vs Luke bit at the end, and have a 20 minute viewing that functionally replaces every important aspect of the movie being told.

The whole subplot about finding the codebreaker was just throw away.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@ViciDraco The codebreaker shit made no sense, all it did was serve as an excuse to have Rose Tico and Finn fail at their side mission so that the Supremacy could catch up with the Raddus and start blowing it up. Which might not have even been a problem were it not for the extraordinarily poor tactical decisions by vice admiral Gender Studies.

It's also especially frustrating that they even invented the character of Rose Tico in the first place. One of the best received parts of TFA was the relationship between Finn and Poe. People wanted to see them go on a side quest together. I feel terrible for Kelly Marie Tran because of all the hate she got for her character and the shit people talked about Vietnamese simply cos of it.
Uachtarain · 26-30, M
It’s not the worst, but I still find it difficult to overlook just how fantastically bad Hayden Christensen was in Episode III 😒
Uachtarain · 26-30, M
@NoahB tell you what, exactly? 😀
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Uachtarain whats not to love!
Uachtarain · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick well that’s true. I physically winced during that horrendous scene out on the balcony when they were confessing their love for each other 🤢

Apparently Harrison Ford once told George Lucas that he could write this shit, but he sure couldn’t say it!
SammyJo · 51-55, F
Nah! It's a toss-up between 'Phantom....' and 'Return Of The Jedi', although I quite like the Ewoks.....so...fuck it! it's 'Phantom...'

The last 3? I quite liked...

SJD xx
NoahB · 26-30, M
@SammyJo thanks for your input. but i got to disagree. the last three made zero sense and didn't build on the story at all.
SammyJo · 51-55, F
@NoahB Hmmm...the concept was to have balance in the Force/Universe and that goodness can create goodness -Rey

Having said all that, 'Empire...' is the greatest film ever made! No if's, no but's, of any genre. 'Empire....' wins hands down...

Just sayin' !

So far Disney takes the prize for each one. Each one is worse than the previous.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Grendale I think Episode VII was pretty good. It wasn't great, Daisy Ridley's acting left a lot to be desired, but it was enjoyable and fun. The second and third installments weren't very good though.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick i thought it made no sense. i didn't understand the first order at all. the empire was strong bc it was the galaxy unified under the empereor. the first order were supposed to be like hold outs from the collapsed empire but.... somehow they had more resources and man power then the fully formed empire?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@NoahB The First Order only makes sense if you dive into the expanded universe, which most people who are looking for an exciting science fiction movie are not going to do. There's an entity that has existed in Star Wars lore for a long time called the Intergalactic Banking Clan. It was shenanigans with the IBC that created the First Order, mostly using hidden money and two especially important ship-building planets, the first being Kuat and the second being Lothal. These two planets were directly next to Muunilist, home planet of the Muun species who owned and operated the IBC. Kuat was the headquarters of Kuat Drive Yards, the biggest and best manufacturer of starships in the galaxy, and Lothal was the center of Sienar Fleet System, who made the best armor, weapons, and ground vehicles. So by being allied with the Muuns and their stupidly wealthy International Banking Clan, and then forming additional alliances with Kuat Drive Yards and Sienar Fleet Systems, a relatively minor Imperial Remnant faction was able to acquire an obscene amount of firepower and resources. Plus, using the Unknown Regions to hide their activity meant they could do this without the New Republic taking notice.

Of course, all this happens off screen and you'd need to read novels or comics to put it together, which is why it made no fucking sense in the movies. So I understand exactly what you mean.
Elessar · 26-30, M
I disliked 8 the most. Even more than 9.

Favourite remains 3. 😌
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick I don't know, 8 felt at traits too Disney-ish, at traits like a spin off, and some scenes were more reminiscent of Mass Effect rather than Star Wars (the "casinò" one, iirc, lol)
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Elessar Oh it certainly had that "Disney" feel to it. The side quest that Rose and Finn went on, the fucking animals at the Canto Bight casino, freeing the children who were forced into labor. It definitely seemed like a bit of that "Disney magic" was being forced into a movie where it didn't belong. Which is no insult to the Disney feeling, but it isn't supposed to feel that way. Star Wars is a science fiction space fantasy, not an animated family classic.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick It would've helped if we saw some of the species and the locations seen in the previous installments imo, it felt like a totally different universe to me. I don't oppose new content, but so long as it doesn't completely replace what's supposed to identify the setting of the franchise.

Paradoxically, the KotOR games, set 3000 years before Ep. I if I recall correctly (I played them long ago so I'm not 100% sure) felt more Star Wars than something supposed to be set ~30 years after Ep. VI 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, totally agreed.
Steve42 · 56-60, M
Do you remember when the dark side of the force was actually dark? Pep-ridge farm remembers...
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Steve42 lol now its a confused sexually frustrated teen
firefall · 61-69, M
#3, Revenge of the stiff - I've tried watching it 3 times, and every time fallen asleep in the middle of the incredibly extended fight scene, because it's so fucking dull (and the idiot soundtrack of voices going aaAAAaaah doesnt help).
NoahB · 26-30, M
@firefall man that ones my favorite. its so epic. sensei versus student. the fate of the galaxy teetering on the edge of a fascist take over. Yoda versus the Emperor before he was the emperor. you know how it ends since its a prequel but seeing it all come together is something. Duel of Fates light saber battle over a lava field. amazing. blew my mind as a kid
Anything starting with "The Force Awakens" right up to (but not including) "The Mandalorian". If you don't count Jar Jar Binks' character.

None of the recent movies needed to be made at all.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@PrivateHell lol i agree. i like rogue one though
@NoahB i even hated "Rogue One", and "Solo" was garbage. My biggest issue has been Kylo Ren was the worst Sith ever. He is a cross between Professor Snape in Harry Potter and that kid always getting beat up for lunch money at school.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@PrivateHell yeah kylo sucked. they didn't know what to do with him. it was funny in episode 9 when they hyped up "the knights of ren" and it just turned out to be guys with like.... shovels and stuff lmao
