But who it talks about is a typical self satisfied Redneck American. Perfectly happy with his lifestyle and no plans to change a thing. Not investing in the future, his kids, or anything beyond new chrome tail pipes for his truck. Now city folk are mostly looking to improve, step up, work harder and carve out a better future for their kids. (Unless you happen to be uber rich or have a father who sets you up and bails you out)
In fact, the struggling lifestyle is more imbeeded in the Asian cultures as well. The Redneck style as sung about in this and other songs owes more to the Pacific Island lifetstyle. Laid back. Tomorrow will be the same as today. No need to change a thing.. Which is great until the world moves on and leaves you behind. Then you become a tourist attraction. The Dukes of Hazzard. Two shows daily and three on saturdays. Its kind of sad really..
