It's so much easier helping strangers in need rather than the people I consider close to me

Simply because I can't accept the fact that something bad has happened to someone I love.

I've always felt that I should help family and friends first and whoever else i can, when i can..

It's always bothered me when family members who can, would sooner help strangers than family members in need

Absolutely correct! When it's someone close we have feelings, we are too close.. and that makes it hard to be objective and uninvolved...
