if we were immune to disease and did not age ( immortal but body can be damaged to death)

would we tend to live a super boring existence because we would be afraid to get hurt and die since never dying would actually be an option?

Considering that nobody wants to become ill or even die from old age, I would relish living forever. Providing society has changed for the better and becomes more empathic and there were no more suffering. I would travel. Enjoy my descendents on into the future, make endless friends, look forward to each new day with renewed strength and health and be thankful for it. Life would be what we make it and it certainly doesn't have to be boring!

@RainontheMoon I've always found a bad thing about immortality is having to see thousands of years of your loved ones die
If we couldn't die, there would be no need for birth.
There would be no need for sex.
If we couldn't die, there'd be no need to eat, drink, breathe, find shelter or solve problems, no need to cooperate, no need for language.
There would be no need for sense perception, no need for awareness.
Life itself would not be.

@hartfire I see your point but not all of life is about surviving, having sex with a condom or eating chocolate cake have little to do with biological imperative, or skiing, we just do it for fun. also discovering more about the universe is always interesting. although dying wouldn't be a worry, the quest for pleasure and comfort would still be a motivation, like standing in the rain naked would still suck after a while, thus requiring cooperation and ingenuity also the need for love would still be there because without others we die of boredom.

Probably not, as teens we all thought we were invincible and did many things that now as adults we shake our heads and think "How am I still alive?". The point being that no one thinks it will happen to them.

@curiosi I was just thinking, if I was like this, would I stop taking cars and just walk everywhere, I got time? considering car accidents being such a major cause of death in humans it would become one of the only ways you could die. would be worth it to avoid certain things. but maybe you're right, I can also see how right now we have a LIMITED time here, it seems good incentive to be careful and maybe just the opposite, immortal people maybe would get reckless after a few hundred years because of being bored with life and needing more intense feeling.

We would starve to death. Even with the 70 year average lifespan we have,we’re approaching 8 billion. The rich would keep people alive just in case they need a part

@NightCrawler cute, you sound like a 12 year old, having adolescent issues? girls don't like you? adolescents use this kind of behavior to pretend like they have character and to give themselves the illusion of self-confidences.

I doubt things would be much different than they are now.

As opposed to the boring existence we have now?
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Thevy29 I don't find life boring, boring is the consequence of a lack of imagination, there is so many options of stuff to do on this planet, its like a giant playground . I just don't have enough time to do it all.
