Has anyone had cognitive behavioural therapy?

Did it help you feel better eventually? I've just started a course (for PTSD/birth trauma and general anxiety) and it's making me feel worse at the moment 馃檨

If you're a proactive person I think cbt really helps get you out of a rutt.
But if it's complex ptsd you need the combination, you need someone to listen and let you know your thoughts and feelings are your own and although happening not always rational. The cbt helps you to
Find a productive way to push those negative thoughts back and out.

@Peppa it's years and years of bad mental health at this point sadly!
I didn't have any luck with it and my issues, but I've heard good about EMDR for PTSD. Never got to try that myself though.

Yes. It is quite common. Probably something ever better for those symptoms would be something called DBT. It is a branch of CBT.

@SW-User so far she's got me to write down thoughts and stuff and this week I'm supposed to be writing a letter to the person who was fundamental to my traumatic experience.
