Food for thought?

Fairy tales in their original form, as well as myths, were used as both entertainment and as a way for people to deal with emotional turmoil. They were often grim, and while there were usually fantastical elements they always had the human touch. A lot of these messages were lost over time, myths and tales were cut down and lightened up, but the originals still exist. Try reading a few unedited tales/myths sometimes and find out what they were created for.

Also, outside of that one art piece that made Hades look evil, in the oldest myths Persephone actually dished out far worse punishments than the god of the underworld.

I've always love fairy tales and story telling in general.
