My bf just told me cats cant catch Corona?

Is he being ignorant or no? Because I tried to show him 2 articles and he still said no. And that if that were the case, all the animals/or cats would be infected. He said it's all media and not true.

Right or wrong I'm glad my cats are indoor cats only. You never know what they are going to rub up against.

This is not the media, it is the CDC

@Miram But there's no datas what tests (PCR, ELISA etc) were used馃

According to cats.org there's a flurry of suspicion around cats getting it but no actual proven cases. Because lets face it they don't have enough tests for humans so who's ever going to test a cat.

What we do know however is that the covid-19 virus can stay active on soft furnishings for up to 24 hours... and that tells me that if an infected person sneezes on or handles your cat then you handle your cat then touch your face you might as well let the person sneeze right at you.

There's no evidence that covid19 is spreading from domestic animals. Now animals do get corona but that's a different strain, not the one that's killing people right now..

So technically your bf is right.

There are animal forms of Corona, but it's generally thought that although animals can carry the Human versions of the virus on their fur they can't get ill from it.

try pouring some into their drink bowls..............might be a good idea to leave out the lime. I hear that cats don't like citrus fruits馃お

I think I read that most animals can get Coronavirus鈥檚, as there are lots of different strains.
Miram31-35, F
It is rare but possible and has happened.

Kinda weird considering this sprang from animals(zoonotic). I haven't seen any definitive word, though.
Yeah I've seen those articles too. Not trusting the evil media is getting paranoid though. Hype doesn't mean it didn't happen. Hype means exaggeration.

How are we going to stay 6 feet away from our cats?
malizz70-79, M
Mine and Tabby practising social distancing.
Katiatavrovich31-35, F
It's discussed

To my knowledge, pets can't get covid-19, nor infect people with it.
