why do some people think god is so great?

ive been thinking about this for a while. and i just know that ill get a few negative responses. but i really dont care. its been bugging me for a while. ive often heard people say what is god? so people preach about god and how good he is. yet they hate murders. god takes babies away from their parents,he takes people away from their friends. he takes parents away from their loved ones. and god is still good? people say god took others away as he had better things planned for them. if he hadnt taken them away,maybe they would have planned better things for themselves. god has murdered more people and animals than anyone in the world. so please dont preach that god is good,god is great. cause he isnt. to me,god is a murderer.

If you ever choose to study comparative religion - even just a little - you'll discover that there is not just one version of god but many, and the characteristics vary enormously between cultures.

The Old Testament is very far from being the one and only text describing the nature of God. Try the Vedanta, or the Upanishads.

It doesn't matter if it's Jews, Christians, Muslims, Pagans or others; no matter which god people believe in, all believers believe their god is great.

If you read Jung, he offers a plausible explanation of why so many people need to believe in a god, and why and how such belief can play a vital role in their personal development.

Of course, there are also many ways in which people can misuse their religions - ut that's a different issue.

Yes Big Boy, they are. They are colloquial expressions, used in this case to bring a light hearted tone to the discussion.

Well.. if they are one extreme, you have gone to the other. Anyone is free to market and sell anything be it product or service or concept.. and on the other side it is buyer beware.

So start weighing or analysing what you buy or get sold into. Many also market themselves through some god. Could be that God concepts are freely available so it's available as a unique selling proposition to many.

But if you're looking for the true God, he must have returned to long back as nobody would have believed him because he was not any of the established god. So he could be working on a penetration strategy or lost hopes.😄

Those are your beliefs and they don't harm anyone but I am sure people will be offended because they think they are the only ones who can possibly have it all figured out.

And based on what? Based on whatever [i]faith[/i] they were born into. All so conveniently true.

It would be a fact if we can prove he exists, and demonstrate a direct relationship between his own actions and the deaths you enumerated.

For me, God is great, beyond great in that He is the Creator of the Universe, all that we know and don't know, all that we are.

And I think that's pretty cool.
