Did we make a mistake valuing opinions, now that opinions outweigh facts?

Heartlander · 80-89, M
Most facts are usually just fortified opinions. By giving weight to different opinions we tend to come up with better fortification for some opinions over others.

Many fact that were assumed to be true 100 years ago, 200 years ago have been replaced over the years with better facts.

I think it would be a mistake to believe that we are at the terminal end of facts, and thus opinions are no longer needed. I think that's how what we think of as the "dark ages" became the dark ages.

I think we made a mistake when we didn't have a healthy balance of opinions and facts when it came to making decisions.
When people say “my truth” that’s silly. There is only the truth, “your truth” is a convenient fiction

Whose facts? 🤷🏻‍♂️

And when do facts become opinions by omission of the facts?
Facts? Facts? We used to hear about those...
First of all, there's the speciousness of labelling opinions as facts
