Is there always a silver lining in challenging times?

trackman11 · 61-69, M Best Comment
I would suggest that it’s not really a silver lining and the idea that others are facing even more challenging times is irrelevant.

When you are down or struggling that is real and at times overwhelming. What is true is that there is always hope and although it may feel like there is not, there is always help.

Most challenging times bring out strengths you may not realize you have and improve your ability to be patient (often what “silver lining” is referring to). Unfortunately many people face times so deep and dark that it feels hopeless and help is required.

no, we must be honest about this... sometimes challenges are just that, challenging. people try to be helpful, tell you there is silver lining, but when you don't find it you feel like failure. when in reality, there never was silver lining, so how could you succeed to find it?

if you can just get past or through the challenge without too much damage, you have survived, and that is the best we can hope to do.

@Yulianna I wonder if in surviving you become stronger in ways you may not even realize. That doesn’t make it easier and it’s never a failure to be in the midst of any challenge.
Your comment is incredibly important because well meaning people need to read it and realize that listening and empathy are often better than words of encouragement spoken at the wrong time.
I will be more thoughtful as a result. Thank you. 🙂

Not always, but you have to look for one at least.

How you handle it . If you act Responsibly and with forethought , you can always hold your head up regardless of the outcome .
I can't say for sure if there is or not but you won't know if you don't look for it

Almost always. Unless you have deliberately placed yourself repeatedly in the same awful situation. Sometimes the lessons have been learned and the only thing left to gain is you becoming tired of living that way.
