why do all civilizations worship gold? Mayans, Egyptians and late Europeans?

What do the Mayans have to do with the Europeans? Does it say in the bible that we should worship gold?
JBird · F
1. Not all civilizations worship gold. I don't even think any civilization worship gold? Even if they did, the question would be similar to why do some people worship Christ, Jehovah, Shiva or Buddha? It's just belief.

2. Europeans invaded Mayans?

3. I don't think so.

@JBird the Europeans did, they invaded the Aztecs as well and instituted a policy of near slavery and genocide.

They don't actually worship the gold, they worship the wealth it represents.

I don't think any of them actually worshiped the gold, they all had their own gods to worship
Not sure about the Bible, but it’s common for those who worship demons to write the tablets in gold and blood because it’s viewed as sacred. The demons know it is precious to us (we decided the value), so the accept it as a sign of respect.

It was always good to have an ideal to embody so it would provide a moral structure and purpose to people living hard lives.

Because gold is rare, and rare things are valuable. Same reason we value diamonds and oil.

It doesn't tarnish, so in a way represents something everlasting and eternal. It will never lose it's lustre.

People who worship gold have nothing to do with the bible.

@SW-User You are so right and the RCC is a perfect example.
You’re confusing worship and wealth.

Some people need to believe

They worshipped gods

I'm not so sure on the Mesoamerican ones. The Aztecs for example were bewildered that the Spaniards were so obsessed with gold.
There's so little of it. They say what's above ground could fill 3 Olympic swimming pools. Image how much there was back then

It has always been valued because it is rare. It was seen as magical.and mystical because it occurs in its metallic form in nature. Which isn't common for most metals and because it doesn't readily tarnish or react with things. That gave it a sense of purity and power. It resisted decay.

@MethDozer that and shiny and I can see myself.
