How should this be handled ?

If your a step parent and it’s the fathers turn to celebrate the child’s birthday, should the actual parent be invited over as well? I’m hoping I make all the right moves.

This sort of thing is obviously a matter of opinion. But I don't think inviting the other parent is OK. It gives an incorrect view of the situation. Also, it can give the impression that the child has more power than is realistic in any kind of family. Have your own party and let the other parent have theirs.

I'm from split parents. We liked when they could put aside differences for our sake. If you can deal with it, I say yes.

I think so. If that parent is an active part of that child's life, then I can only see it making things better.
I think so unless there's a problem with the parents that will ruin the birthday party
