Can a person survive in total isolation?

Survive? Yes.

Survive and still be mentally stable? No.

If you never knew anything else.

Involuntary isolation. No

Voluntary isolation... expect the demons

It can but a great deal of that depends upon the temperament and mental stability of the individual

Survive yes thrive no. They length of time in isolation would be a factor to.
