Are you or your partner a "handy" person around the house?

If you hire a plumber, electrician or carpenter, it costs a fortune these days.

I am handy in that I can tell my husband something is wrong and send him YouTube videos instructing him how to fix it.

@KimWexler Very handy. I know many people handy just like you.

There is nothing that cannot be learned.

@Johnblackthorn Thank god for youtube. It has saved me money

@yogibooboo it's a strange place that YouTube it's full of bogus wildly inaccurate advice on chainsaws yet when it come to technology it's something else, I've fixed xboxs, dvd players, tvs and various tablets, phones and laptops. Via YouTube.

@yogibooboo Bwahaha diy only costs me money, all told. My consulting rates are higher than what plumbers/electricians/hvac guys charge and they get the job done in half the time.

But sometimes it’s fun, it seems like something I want to learn, or is a good bonding project to do with my wife. On money alone, I’m pretty much always better off outsourcing.

I can do some things and make some repairs, but I am not "handy" by a long shot. Yes hiring someone can be expensive, but having to have someone come in and fix any further problems I could cause is even more so...I'd rather pay someone to do it right the first time, so if I'm unsure of the task (i.e. don't know what I'm doing) I'd rather not fool with it myself. Just common sense.

I am not and I've never dated anyone that was. If I need something major I can't do I hire someone
Johnblackthorn · 56-60, M
@yogibooboo don't worry about fouling it up, there's undoubtedly a video on making it into something else.

@MarineBob I actually heard repairman once say "I love this new do it yourself trend...I'm making a killing"😄

@yogibooboo Money saved can also be money well spent. I leave the major things to the trained and experienced professionals.

Medium levels of handy. I have to justify my enormous collection of tools somehow, but for the most part I hate getting my hands dirty outside of the garage. My motorcycles need me more.

@yogibooboo I've been in/around construction for a lot of years. Just kinda picked up on a little of everything.

Normally yes but being laid up means everything is being hired out
