how long can I breastfeed my baby?

when should I stop, after year?
4meAndyou · F Best Comment
14 months is typical. Many women stop before that, and a few women breastfeed until the child develops it's first teeth and begins to bite.

Whatever suits you. I feed my son until he wa 8 months whenever he wanted....but once he was eating well he didnt want milk so much....so it was just at bedtime until he was about 12 months.
My daughter didnt seen to enjoy my milk at all! Lol she gave me a nasty bite at 4 months.....and i expressed after that...but she didnt want it. Lol. Shes 18 now and never liked milk at all. Hasnt done her any harm.

@SW-User just take the babies lead....you'll know when the time is right.
SW-User
@RubySoo yes i agree..with you its like theyre trying o tell us theirselves what they want
RubySoo · 56-60, F
@SW-User they do. X
When it’s full.
@SW-User Welcome. 🖤🤗

From what I read it seems the benefits are reduced after a year and solid food is introduced, so I think that would be a fine time.
SW-User
@DarkHeaven Yes and they then depend on solid foods..
And I think it depends on their digestive system too!!!
@SW-User Yup.

Ask your doctor
SW-User
@SW-User is it not better to ask experienced people too?
SW-User
@SW-User it might vary.

Around 18 months i think 🤔
You should breast feed baby for 5-6 months. It contains antibodies so it’s good for health
SW-User
@mysteryespresso anti bodies?
he is 6 th month old
I still breastfeed him..
@SW-User antibodies help fight infection. Maybe it’s best to go to pediatrician, he can give best advise
SW-User
@mysteryespresso oh sure thanks :)

When ur childs starts accepting the solid foods easily, stop only then
coz..if the little one gets ill and refuses solid food, your breast milk can only be the saviour.

My cousin always told everyone that once they start teething, it's time for weaning.
wunderluv · 51-55, M
I'd say breastfeed as long as you can or whatever seems right
Mahesh · M
as long as your breasts produce milk.
Let your child help direct you. You can also express and feed from a bottle.

I fed my eldest for one year and my youngest for 20 months.

Hopefully before it starts talking.

@DarkHeaven Lactation is kinda hot
@MethDozer Correct. At least warm. Unless you pump and refrigerate. It’s kind of an acquired taste at that temp. 😌
@MethDozer Just teasing, though. But than again, I’ve never had a pregnant girlfriend (I’m not exactly equipped. lol,) so who knows? lol
