Who has been the most important person in your life?

rckt148 · 61-69, M
You may not count Christ ,but I owe everything to Him
but as humans go
My grandma
She died when I was 12
but she did all she could to teach me as much as she could before she passed
She knew her days were numbered and she was in so much pain
She is to date the only woman to ever love me unconditionally
She had to leave me ,,I know I was being selfish to beg her to not let go
She said she was going to die the week after Easter ,she did
Her sister died the same night
same hospital ,,totally unrelated causes

@rckt148 My nana(born in 1907) was also the most influential female in my life..she came to the USA by herself in 1924 for a better life than the life she was living in Ireland(leaving her parents and her 12 siblings)..where she went on to live her best life as a young working FREE woman living in the USA from 17-29(even though she was met with signs of IRISH NEED NOT APPLY) before she settled down at 29(OLD back the) to marry my grandfather, and having her 1st child at 31 yrs old and then her 2nd child at 39 yrs old, ALWAYS working during both of her pregnancies and then going back to work within a few weeks after birth, and going on to WALK TO WORK every day til she retired in her late 70's.

Even though my nana back in the late 30's chose to still be a working mother when she had children..... she as a working woman, strongly encouraged my mom and her sister to be stay at home moms when they became mothers, because she realized how much of her 2 daughter's lives that she missed out on being a working mom.

@ZedsLeppelin2 this was my Fathers Grandma and Grandpa
She was Indian ,he was German ,,you can see from the pic they were hard people
but he founded the town I grew up in ,,lots of business still bear our name
City Hall was named after my Uncle ,,some people found out how the family treated my Dad ,Grandpa cut him out of the will over who he married
They had his name removed ,,but his wife's name is on a lot of things
She donated a lot of land to the city after he died for our fire department and first medical clinic
People were hard and worked hard back them ,,my Grandpa was born in the 1800's and served in WW1 ,,he employed most of the people in our town
You worked on the river ,the orange groves or the packing house
and the packing house and groves were seasonal work
Its cool you know your family history ,,today so many don't
unless they pay for it from ancestry ,com ,,that is building a DNA data base
they are not getting mine
