One in four of all the prisoners on earth live in the USA.

Land of the free?
BlueVeins · 22-25
It's a free country! You can do whatever you want with your life, except for putting any one of these chemicals into your body that isn't approved by daddy government or paying someone to have sex with you. Then men with guns will drag you into confinement!
@BlueVeins However we are told by some who really don't care if the law is broken.....it is OK to pay a whore with campaign finance funds for pussy.. and then pay her off with more of it to keep quiet.... and that is fine.

@AgapeLove I wouldn't say I'm a libertarian, but my objections to libertarianism are all practical as opposed to philosophical. In other words, I support the goal of libertarianism -- to establish maximum freedom and opportunity -- unconditionally. I just don't think deregulation and low taxation are always the best ways to get there. Conventional libertarian thought accounts for negative freedoms, but it does not account for positive freedoms and is therefore unable to establish a balance that maximizes their sum. It also fails to adequately account for economic externalities in a way that doesn't amount to extortion, nor certain irrational characteristics of human psychology.

Opportunity can lead to lawlessness

@Kingfish28 True...the only countries that executed criminals like you suggested no longer exist.

@MalteseFalconPunch then I simply don’t have the answer. Are the laws roughly the same in every state or are they completely different?

Yeah,i looked at those stats a moment ago and i call bullshit. 300 000 inmates in India? Really? Out of 1.4 billion

Maybe it's a sign that law enforcement is doing its job. I bet many nations are far more corrupt.
We all hope that percentage goes higher in the upcoming months here in America.

America's 21st century version of the Brit.18th century poor house.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Picklebobble2 If the Redcoats needed the entire giant island of Australia to house their prisoners... maybe that's why America wants Greenland!
rckt148 · 61-69, M
Yea we have a motto here in Florida
Come for Vacation
Leave on probation
GerOttman · 61-69, M
Well yeah, but that's because China just executes all of theirs...
It is free ,they should be paying room and board

I don't think those stats are accurate. Lots of prisoners we don't even know about in some less than "free" countries.
Not to mention all the people working jobs they hate just to live paycheck to paycheck

One of the most racially targeted populations in the US.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
We should let them out of prison?
