How would you influence people to take public transit?

Provide no parking for automobiles in cities? Or ban private vehicles from entering cities -- parking lots OUTIDE the cities, public transport to get in and move around?

Invest in reliable, frequent and affordable public transport might be a good start....

Make it fast.
Make it reliable.
Make it comfortable.
Make it cheaper.
Additional incentives like food/drink/movie available/good wi-fi/regular user discount/additional passenger at cheaper rate/kids go free after certain time of day/Seniors cheaper travel from 55/make it available 24/7

I wish we had better public transport services ...but it needs more investing ...I do actually prefer public transport to driving ...I took public transport for most of my life . I was a late start in driving

Car parking rates

The first step is to recognise that public transport cannot be a profit making venture on its own. Its a public good and needs to be funded up to a standard, not down to a budget. The all those changes can be made.

Leave the car at home. Try it. Get hooked. Never look back! I use it all the time!

Around here you can't. But that's small town living.

Take their private transportation from them.
