This girl i was head over heels for just told me that she only wants to be friends because she cant let her past go. I tried to let her open up to me but she chose not to. Now im left heartbroken and fing single

I'd suggest not staying friends if you're not ok with her feelings and are hoping that one day she'll want more. Even if she can't let her past go (these usually take some time), waiting for someone might make you frustrated and it's not a guarantee that she'll give you an opportunity even when she's ready to date again.
