How do you get a tune out of your head?

Gusman61-69, M
A study has just been done. I posted about it yesterday.

Want to get rid of those annoying ear worms?
Having a song stuck in your head on a loop affects almost everyone.
So exasperating, keeping me awake, coming back, non stop for hours.
Have you noticed that though the song goes on endlessly in your head, we never verbalise the song?
"Interesting research has suggested that chewing gum is the best way to remove an earworm,"
Dr Tim Byron from the University of Wollongong's School of Psychology explains,
"When a song was on internal loop, the machinery in our brains compelled us to sing and make a noise, but did not quite send the message to our mouths".
"So when you have a song stuck in your head, ultimately your mouth wants to sing it, even if you aren't letting it out,"
"By chewing gum, you're distracting that brain passage by activating your mouth and jaw for another purpose."
He also suggested interrupting your mouth by repeating certain sounds such as Ta or Ti.
