How difficult is it for you to fight bigots? When the bigots are your parents and their bigotry affects your life?

My parents used to be transphobic bigots towards me. I started self-harming and tried to kill myself.

@ShaythePanTransMan did that help you in any way?

@TheIncredibleHulka Self-harming and trying to kill myself? Haha no. The therapy I was forced into helped me a lot, but it was really thanks to my parents becoming non-abusive and accepting me and letting me start hormones. But...they never apologized for hurting me. I brought it up recently and my mom was livid, saying “there was a lot wrong with you at the time and I was just trying to figure out what was going on.” Yeah, didn’t help.

You need to become independent and move out. Don't tolerate something that hurts your soul. I feel for you. Take care

EDIT: My bad I assumed you live with your parents lol

No child ever has the choice of the paradigm they start with. Choice comes when other paradigms are discovered later in life 😉

Depending on the situation...

Well depends on why they are bigots

Not at all. I just don’t bother.
Fuck 'em. Leave and live.
