Depends on the circumstances.. why you were withdrawing or being withdrawn.. I would say.. write a proper message, send it to the manager.. and explain how much you want to stay and what you will do to make it better/be able to stay

just assume they won't. if they don't, you expected it. if they do, pleasant surprise.
