Is it offensive if a white person uses the N word when rapping lyrics to someone elses song?

PrincessPenny · 26-30, F
Rap is offensive.
PrincessPenny · 26-30, F
@quitwhendone Much of it is very offensive. We are allowed to have our own opinions and tastes. If you want to listen to rap, then that’s your right.
@PrincessPenny I don't like rap so I don't listen to it. And, yes, much of it is offensive.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@PrincessPenny Rap is not offensive if its conscience rap. Not all rap music is the same. 🙂

I personally could ,but I would chose not to
My friends of color know there is not a racist bone in my body
so I can get away with things most white people can't
but they know I only say things and do things that make them laugh
so thats the text its taken in

but as a rule if it could be perceived as racist
I just wouldn't do it ,
I sing a lot of song that black people love ,especially old R&B
I leave the rap to them ,especially gangster rap
some of that stuff even they need to stop saying ,,or stop being offended by it when others do .
Music should pull down walls ,not cause them
@rckt148 good answer, thankyou for taking the time to answer seriously lol
is offensive to see a white person do rap in the first place.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@MarmeeMarch Most Blacks love Eminem. Anyway, keep the change. 🙂
@Zonuss 🤷‍♂️

How often do you use the word 'Bugger'? That word used to be quite offensive but it has been used so much people have forgotten its meaning. The 'N' word will be like that one day.
@Thevy29 yeah Definately but its not there yet. Most words had different meanings once but it takes more time than what? 40-50 years?
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@MushroomFaerie More sometimes. Kind of sad really.
It depends on the context. It probably isn't if it's being used in rap but it is possible to use it an offensive manner.
@quitwhendone yeah I feel its the intent behind it for sure
@MushroomFaerie I agree.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
This is like that kid in class who always kept asking extreme hypotheticals to piss off the teacher.
@SwampFlower you don't have to care. I'm curious and this is the place for questions so...
TakingBackMidgard · 26-30, M
Words shouldn’t be offensive regardless.
@TakingBackMidgard yeah but its where it comes from and what it originally ment. If a white person uses it its like they are dismissing slavery & that it ever happened. It wasn't long enough ago for it to not be thing. I'm not even American and I know that
TakingBackMidgard · 26-30, M
@MushroomFaerie So many people dismiss history as a whole. The term Seletecive Outrage strike well lately. Not one nation, society, and or culture is innocent.

If someone is outraged by one persons words they should reflect on their own past before trying to preach about being just.

There’s a book called Atrocities by Matthew White that talks about the worlds top 100 deadliest episodes caused by man and it points out that nobody is innocent.
@TakingBackMidgard yeah totally but many people get emotionally triggered. Yes we all need to become better stronger people uneffected by others words but that's not the world we live in. With most words I would just say that I'm sorry your offended by my words but with the N word I feel even as a white girl on the other side of the world I totally get it

@PrincessPenny it's also good to have an opinion and stay true to your beliefs. I think that question is a tough one to answer. I personally have never used that word and don't really like hearing it. I can only control myself though.
PrincessPenny · 26-30, F
@Awfullybrave I agree, it is an ugly word, and not one that’s in my vocabulary.
@PrincessPenny Agreed :)

I think at this point, it depends on how they use it :v
It should be offensive to everyone if it’s offensive to anyone.

It depends on what he is saying. Like for all my N word. Its acceptable for some. Not all.
