What is a word or phrase that you hate?

I, for instance, find it quite annoying when people overuse the word 'quite' on the internet in an effort to sound superior and well educated.

;)

Honestly, any form of the “n” word. Substituting an “a” at the end instead of “er” changes nothing. Non blacks who use it are racist; so blacks who use it casually are stupid, ignorant of the history of the word. 😒
Montanaman · M
@bijouxbroussard 👍👍this.

People use it to sound educated? I thought it was just an average word.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MorbidCynic that's what I was thinking too
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@MorbidCynic Yes. When ever people start having an internet debate "I'm smarter!" "No, I'm smarter!" They start over using the word quite until it starts sounding ridiculous.

coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@Montanaman Actually I have a bad habit of saying "and everything" but that's because I'm an awkward person
Montanaman · M
@coffeedimplez I can deal with that 👍🤗
Nimbus · M
'like' this, 'like' that!
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I hate the c word and “my bad”.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Shit happens ! It is what it is!
Peppa · 31-35, F
I dont think i quite understand what you mean.
Its seems quite an ambiguous question to ask.
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@Peppa That's quite alright, take your time!
Peppa · 31-35, F
@coffeedimplez i thought i had it but i can't seem to get it right spelling can be quite annoying for me

Cantsayno · 56-60, M
Thanks bud@Keepitsimple
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
"Dialogue" and "Narrative" ugh. They are words like any other word but the media over uses them in a pompous way.
PaleandPolluted · 36-40, F
When people say sort of when they don’t need to. The basket is full with sort of oranges...
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@PaleandPolluted lol me too
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
People who say a word from another language and pronounce it like they speak the language annoys me.
The word "Love" is over used.
Magenta · F
@allsfinebime2 Yes. And beautiful. They've nearly lost all their value.
Magenta · F
Oh, and soul. Yikes.
SW-User
No worries...a line that is getting over used.
SW-User
I don't like using the word hate.
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@SW-User Sorry for triggering one of your pet peeves 🤭
Glossy · F
The trend in the British media at the moment is to start your response to every question with the word “So...” and it drives me bloody mad. the more “educated“ the person is, the more frequently this word begins their responses.
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@Glossy Yes! Here too.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
“It is what it is”

or

“My bad...”
Glossy · F
The other word that “educated” people seem to get wrong is “”newcular” it seems to be a combination of nuclear and molecular. Unfortunately the world doesn’t exist. But that doesn’t stop scholars, media pundits, politicians and renowned experts from using it.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
I do not know the quality of the people you converse with. Or whether they are making an effort for you to understand them. 😉
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@coffeedimplez How about yourself. Do you use a word more often then you do else were?

I think I overuse the word: 'Though.'
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@Thevy29 Not really in specific places, but I was telling someone else that I say 'and everything' at the end of my statements when I'm feeling awkward, which is most of the time. 🤭
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
And that reminds me of another...when people say ‘conversate’ instead of ‘converse’ haha @Thevy29
SW-User
Nope, that's not it.
Maybe it's seen that way among Americans and British, but not for others. We use it because we might like it, and not to impress them.
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@SW-User I understand that, and I don't care when people use it as a regular word. I really meant in specific instances when people are trying to sound smart during an internet debate.
SW-User
@coffeedimplez I've noticed that when Americans overuse it they use it to mostly impress the British and themselves.
I use it as an intensifier, when not sure what to use instead, or when lazy to pick words.
Anyway, that's as far as I can tell. 🤷‍♂️ You know best on how things word among your people.
To others that aren't American, British or others that have English as their native language, it is, really, just a regular word.🤷‍♂️
coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@SW-User Exactly! I should've been more specific I guess
Caprice · 41-45, F
Hear! Hear! Quite right🧐
goagainsttheflow · 26-30, F
The word "privaledge" when the person they throw it at doesn't really have that.
SW-User
Mmm yes, quite, rather, indeed. 🧐

But anyway... 😅 I hate the word “problematic”.
Blodyn · 22-25, F
Or maybe to be quite polite when they mean you are rubbish.
quid pro quo
make my day
fruit of the poison tree
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@RooiSoosSkarlakenWitSoosSneeu only Hannibal is allowed to say quid pro quo!
SW-User
"At the end of the day" before a sentence.. grrrrrrrr
Overuse of the word 'like'
SW-User
Ya know saying it like I should know 😒😒
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Basically. 🙄
Blodyn · 22-25, F
We have our saying of speaking. We have our way of dressing. It’s just part of who we are.

"There but for the grace of God go I" - what? God had no grace to spare for the other guy?
Blodyn · 22-25, F
His grace is sufficient for us all. We have none to give. May my Dad bring you into our courts! And the angels rejoice over you. @SlovelyNertzo
SlovelyNertzo · 26-30, M
@Blodyn Tell that to the limping guy covered in boils... what grace was bestowed upon him?
HypnoChode · 46-50, M
“Have a blessed day.” 🙄

coffeedimplez · 26-30, F
@Stereoguy Yes lol
MethDozer · M
Literally. People need to learn what the word actually means and how to use it properly. It isn't an intensifier God damn it.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@MethDozer haha my 3 year old granddaughter was just saying
“I liddow-ly” the other day....we couldn’t help laughing at that 😆
MethDozer · M
@ImpeccablyImperfect That's adorable
