WHY PEOPLE BECOME ATHEISTS?

Contrary to belief, which is so much nonsense, God did not make people atheists. I suppose because they can't see beyond their nose and blame God for everything. One bad thing goes wrong and it's all God's fault, according to them. They forget there is Satan that influences people everyday.

@LadyGrace I think some people are taught to blame God for everything, though I guess for some it just seems to be a knee-jerk reaction. But it's good to remember that Satan is hard at work too. That explains a lot.
@TeresaRudolph71 Yes Ma'am. Very true.
Probably because someone somewhere pushed religion on them so the need to say hey I’m an atheist was born. But they probably just didn’t believe. If you think about it it’s not a big deal. I don’t think I ever really did even though I went to church all my life. I just got busy when I got older so I didn’t think about it much. That is, UNTIL MY MOTHER-IN-LAW GOT IN MY FACE ABOUT IT ONE DAY. APPARENTLY MY HUSBAND TOLD HER THAT I DIDN’T BELIEVE IN GOD. IT HAD JUST COME UP IN THE RECENT YEARS. MY HUSBAND TOLD ME I WAS EVIL. YES EVIL. SO I ASSUME THAT THAT IS WHERE SHE GOT THE INFORMATION FROM. SHE JUST WANTED AN EXCUSE TO BE AN EVIL WICKED WITCH. OR MAYBE SHE’S NOT THAT SECURE IN HER BELIEFS. MY FAMILY NEVER FORCED RELIGION ON ME LIKE THAT. BUT I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW HER BEHAVIOR WAS DESPICABLE AND I STILL RESENT IT. I MEAN SHE FLAT OUT ATTACKED ME ONE DAY WHEN I CAME IN THE HOUSE WITH MY SON. THE SHIT SHE SAID SHE SHOULD HAVE NEVER SAID.

@Spoiledbrat *hugs* I am so very sorry that happened to you. I hope you had her arrested.
She had this scrunched up look on her face one day when I got back from the f hospital, where my son had been getting treated foe cancer, and told me that my son needed me to be a good mother and that having him was “God’s plan” even though she knew he was dying. That fucking unholy wicked witch needs to jump off the nearest cliff and spend eternity in hell. I had my son because my husband asked me to have his children and because I also wanted that. Otherwise, I would have NOT had children. It was MY decision to have children as was my decision to marry my now husband. What I hope is that that hypocritical two-faced judgmental witch burns in hell for her sins. I don’t think she broke the law in that one interaction. She’s allowed to be a wicked witch. But I can tell you that as sure as I sit here THAT OLD LADY PUT ON A GOOD SHOW. @NativeOregonian

@Spoiledbrat I don't care if she is a woman, I would have decked her clear across the kitchen, that is inexcusable what she said 😡

I don't speak for everyone, but I became atheist by reading the Bible and other religious texts. If God is omnipotent and allows the evils of this world, he's not benevolent. If he's unable to prevent evils, he's not omnipotent. Either way he doesn't deserve my faith.

We are born atheist, people become religious afterwards
@FireworksForTheDead Very well said.
daisymay · 51-55, T
People are born as atheists.

i never became, i was just always like this. but of course it's ultimately ideological. sometimes it's triggered by the fact that they find the community that they're a part of oppressive or abusive.

People don't become atheist. People are born atheist, they are forced to become religious by parents and society, they are never given an option. It is like forced labor.

Atheism is the natural state of human beings. But if someone wants to return to it, they are frowned upon, shunned, boycotted or even punished for it. There is no bigger organized system of harassment than religion.

I think it's different for different people, but I think that some people are driven away from God and become unbelievers because of some of the things that they are taught to believe about God, and because some people either use God as a weapon or use God to try to explain and make sense of all the bad stuff that happens. I keep hearing things like, "It was the hand of God," or "It was all part of God's plan," when someone does something to hurt someone. I guess they think that this is somehow supposed to help people be at peace with whatever happens to them, at the hands of evil people, but it doesn't do that for me. It just makes me angry. I can understand why some people, when they hear these things, want to run as far away from God as possible, or just stop believing. But then I have to remember that these people don't know any better than I do why bad things are allowed to happen, they just want to believe that they do.

Yep, sanctimonious, holier-than-thou hypocrites is what they are.
Babies aren’t born with religious beliefs, they are subsequently indoctrinated by their families. Some people find that indoctrination untenable, or incompatible with their own life experiences.

@ImKelsey Thank you and I'd claim it if I could. ;)

@ImKelsey I did as well which is probably why I like the quote so much.
God made them that way.

@Peacefulpanda The irony!
Maybe they give it a lot of thought and it makes a lot of sense to them. I believe in what is real, natural and can be explained by science. Supernatural stuff has no proof, whether it's gods, demons, ghosts, spirits or poltergeists.

I had never had to say I was an atheist because no one had ever bothered me about it and I never felt that strongly about it. That is until I found myself defending my beliefs.

Anger which is pain turned inside out
Not always. Some people just don’t believe in god and that’s it. @curiosi

Religion doesn't fit what I believe in.
