Personally I don't but really stunning women who receive compliments all the time have learnt that guys often say that sort of thing not out of the goodness of their hearts but for some reward.
It depends on the 'compliment' not on who gives it. Many men seem to think....'you have great tits...id do you!' Is a compliment. Id turn my nose up at that whoever it came from. Wear as 'you look great in that dress' would be welcome from anyone......
@Phire1 Let's say you work in a place for 5 years and it is majority male. At this job you normally dress conservatively, professionally. One day you have to leave early to attend some event that requires you to get really decked out. You walk in with a more formal dress, makeup done perfectly and hair styled differently. Let's say that normally you are a relatively attractive woman but this day you glow. Anyone who has seen you almost daily for five years is going to be taken by surprise to some degree and you should expect some compliments or some comments as to how different, good, pretty, or whatever simply because of the surprise. That would not be unacceptable unless some asshole made a crude comment. That would be an example of the exception I spoke of.
@OwnerOfMany At one job I had, every day I wore business-casual attire. One day I wore an outfit that was a little dressier. The (female) boss commented that I was dressed up more than usual and asked what the occasion was - I was going to a friend's wedding after work. I understand that dressing up more than usual one day may bring comments/compliments.
(side note - this boss had an issue with parents and single parents. She said I could have asked to leave work early for my friend's wedding. But, she always had an issue when I needed time off if my kids were sick or needed to go to the doctor)
It depends on the 'compliment'. What many men think of as a compliment really isnt something i find complimentary! Its how its said that makes the diffence not who says it. 'You look great in that dress. It shows off your figure well' would be a nice thing to hear. 'I love how it shows off your tits....id love to suck those!' Is more common of the 'compliments' men give here on SW. Disrespectful. Thats why i look down my nose.....
If it's a genuine polite compliment I just say 'thank you' no matter what the person looks like. Sometimes, genuine polite compliments also can be given at an inappropriate time, or unwanted.
If a woman is giving that look you described it might just be her way of saying she's not interested.
@BlueMetalChick What if they compliment what you are wearing? Your hair? Your scent? I am the kind of guy who, if I did know you, would say, "You're a bitch, but you have good taste."
