I share your pessimism here. If anything, we’ve seen over the past couple of years that it’s still alive and well.

@SW-User That's the thing. I'm old enough to have seen the arc...where there were actually fewer incidents of hate speech, hate crimes. And lately I've been watching that backlash, with people justifying everything as part of "free speech". Disparaging those who speak out against racism as being "too politically correct". The acceptance of racism seems almost a cyclical thing--but racism itself never goes away.
