Political parties in the US function very much like a parliament dont they?

I mean together the Democratic and Republican parties speak for all of us and any attempt to circumvent them or go over their heads is usually fruitless...they own our democracy.

something someone said to me a few days ago:
I have recently just come to the conclusion that all political people are shitbirds, they all ruin the world by wanting to control others.
@Frank52 He obviously didn't mean anyone who has views on politics or wants some control.

He meant the extremists and these days , that's the majority.

When is the last time did you see a conservative and a liberal here reach a middle ground?

@Miram You make a good point. Alas, one of the disappointments of SW is that so many worlds are not similar and there are not only amazingly large divides in thinking, there is a lack of willingness to even listen to others who do not echo their own views. Some even don't want to speak to people outside their own country.

However, a good thing is that there are some more open-minded people (perhaps like yourself) who when contradicted or challenged come back with a well thought through response.

@Frank52 It's team work. One person holding on to civility and being open minded in a discussion is not enough.

And sadly the majority are louder.

Except that in the U.S. you only have a choice of 'either' 'or'.
Strange way to define a democracy when the definition is so limited don't you think ?

@Picklebobble2 very strange. Political parties are a cancer man. A growth. And people just cant fathom it for some reason; they were NEVER supposed to exist in this nation.
