The future?

I am watching The Purge: Election Year on FX. How many of you think the US, or even the world, is headed this way if we don't outlaw right and left wing extremism?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
Your solution to extremism is to outlaw extremism, which means you'd have to end freedom of speech and freedom of association. Denying Constitutional rights is extreme. You become the extremist, and an authoritarian. That this seems like a good idea to you tells me that you're already the extremist.

Yeah, hate to break it to you, but you're the bad guy. You might want to rethink your approach.

@Anonymartyr Judging by a few groups Sicarium subscribes to, I am guessing he is either a drop out, or him being from Texas, went to a school that encouraged right wing exrremism.
@NativeOregonian People need to learn that government needs tax-payers but tax-payers do not need government.
The solution lies in the individual and not in the government. People who live properly do not need law enforcement, its the criminals who create that need, through the inaction of the community as a whole. The more you moderate yourself, the less you need to be governed.
@NativeOregonian Sounds like the private army type that shoots first and realizes their mistake later. They also talk without knowing: Liberal in Canada is more conservative than the conservatives in the USA are. Because in General Canadians and those who choose to move here tend to be a more moderate people who do not thrive in violent and aggressive environment like the USA. they tend to think that we here are trying and failing to be like the USA. Rather we , generally consider the USA to be our obnoxious and perpetually misbehaved relative and why the rest of the world finds Canadians so polite has little to do with Canada, but the comparison with American tourists making Canadians look good. Our gun laws here are not so important in our much-lower violent crime rate because if that were the case, there would simply be that many more stabbing and fatal beatings. There is no death penalty anywhere in the country save for the highest levels of treason. This has nothing to do with the government and everything to do with how our people choose to live their lives. We will willingly give up some personal freedoms voluntarily if we feel the need for increased internal protection. In my community there never was a debate about installing cameras all over every business part of the city. Nobody here felt stepped on over it.
You cannot enforce good behavior, you can only encourage it; and you cannot threaten criminals, they will only become more violent. A community stands or falls because of its people, not because of its leadership.

They won't outlaw it. They wanted people to collide and they've got it. It's what you get when you trade arms! Left and rightism
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Gangstress They pit us against each other to keep our eyes off of them and all their closed door deals.
Spooky. It’s on Foxtel right now. The ethan hawk one
NativeOregonian · 51-55

I have the urge to purge! god bless the new founding fathers of America! 🇺🇸
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
Lol left wing extremism. You barely have a left wing in the US.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@basilfawlty89 Care to elaborate?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@NativeOregonian the furthest left you have is Bernie and AOC. They're European style social democrats. They're not Marxists or Anarchists.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@basilfawlty89 I'm talking about the protesters in the streets, like Antifa and the Proud Boys fighting each other, or the pundits like Rachel Maddow and Rush Limbaugh, constantly urging them on.
