When will mass shootings not be a regular occurrence in America?

I often feel ashamed of being an American. I'm ashamed I live in the same country with people that won't blink an eye when so many people are gunned down, but will freak out when you try to control the problem.

Why are we like this? When will this stop?
My father said something about it and I think he was on to something. It was not until he did a stint in Colorado that he met people who though resolving problems with bullets was acceptable. We have plenty of gun owners in Canada but you would be hard pressed to find one with that same mindset. In fact most gun owners I know would suggest that makes you emotionally too immature to be trusted with a weapon of any kind.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Don't let something like statics get in the way. 😏
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@chrisCA statics? Lol
@chrisCA Actually the statistics are the most damning evidence supporting my position. Canada's entire annual murders is a slow month in any large American city.
your the only one grouping yourself with shootings, I have lived in europe for more then a quarter of my life and in my country they dont hear about shootings they hear more about terrorism.
chrisCA · M
@Girlyfriendcollecting Nor in Canada.
@RedtheEmerald I never said I lived in a more advanced country then the us, it was definitely worse living in the us but not because of school shootings. you wouldnt be talking like this about this country if you lived in a post war torn country like I lived in. I fully support this country because we are always getting better in the bigger picture. I completely understand if you dont agree with whats happening, and its fine if you hate this country but I dont, and you have the choice to move somewhere else.
Idk what country you're even living in.
How about when we start focusing on better mental healthcare and screenings. Or when we stop allowing politicians and the media to divide us to the point that for some, violence seems the only option?

I promise you, if you surrender your right to bear arms today, you will be surrendering your other rights tomorrow.

Guns should be for the military, not the regular person....and, since when did ‘regular people’ NEED an arsenal of weapons to defend themselves?

The other option, as Chris Rock said in one of his sketches, is to make bullets more EXPENSIVE! You can’t afford the bullet, you can’t shoot them!

@BlueMetalChick WoW! Yeah, I get the idea of collecting because of fun! I have a load of Star Wars mugs for that very reason.....but, in terms of guns, it should be easy enough to make the guns, what’s the phrase, to deactivate them. Simple.

They make them useable again, that’s unlawful. Yes?

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MartikaDuponte1 Oh, you're talking about when they demill a firearm so it can't actually shoot, yeah I've seen that before.
MartikaDuponte1 · 36-40, F
@BlueMetalChick They used to do that over here in the uk....

It requires a large-scale reconstruction of society. Economic stress and massive destruction of social institutions has exacerbated the atomization and alienation of Americans. In response to the hopelessness of this situation, everyone is turning to extremes, and those with horrible intentions are finding the opportunity to express themselves. America has allowed fascism to fester in its borders virtually unfettered. In order to change the grim situation Americans are facing, they will have to build their own community organs and reject the current economic system that fosters misery and hatred, and this will include rallying against the pathetic administration that has aided the spread of sick and deranged ideas whilst giving all its luxuries to the wealthy.
@SourPennies The problem is trying to get people to ban together and fight the system. A lot of people choose to sit around and complain rather then do something. It doesn't seem possible.
SourPennies · 26-30, F
@RedtheEmerald I'm actively working toward it. I think people are defeatist because they have no examples to look to. I choose to be an example and to do the work. By showing others the kind of work we can do immediately, we plants seeds that bloom into something much bigger. But it all starts with finding like-minded people and getting your work started. I'm doing it. Anyone can do it. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
chrisCA · M
Guns appear to be ingrained in American culture. A cowboy mindset.
@MasterLee Is that what you post when you don't know what to say so you just shut it down? This is at least the second time you've done that.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@RedtheEmerald no I post it to convey laughter at you.
What's funny in this comment and the replies?
Laughman · 46-50, M
America needs to mature and just get rid of the guns. You don't need them. Australia handed in our guns over 20 years ago. Not a single mass shooting since. Plus I don't have to worry about being shot when I go out because - no one has a gun. It's very simple. Just stop being so patriotic to an outdated constitution and get rid of the guns.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Laughman why ty. So magnanimous.
@MasterLee On your profile you say you'd like to meet women. I don't know how you expect that to happen when you keep acting like a cunt.

I don't see it stopping any time soon. It's been progressively getting worse. As long as there are mentally unstable people that are unfit to own/operate firearms, it won't stop.
xRedx · M
Too late in the sense of circulation. Even if we ban them tomorrow, there are thousands out there and even more in the black market.
So then there is no absolute solution to it. The most we can do it ban firearms.

This shit hurts my heart.
xRedx · M
We can ban firearms, but not mentally unstable or evil people.
I’m not optimistic. The way many people cling to the 2nd Amendment, right or wrong, it’s obvious based solely on results, we’ve demonstrated as a country that we love our guns much more than our children. 😒
@bijouxbroussard The last line hit me hard there. I really couldn't have said it better myself.

When Im President Of The United States in The Future They Will Decline

When the NRA is no longer a thing. I feel like this association is part of the problem. Putting fear into the hearts of gun owners, reminding them to buy a ton of guns if the government confiscates their weapons and becomes tyrannical.
In a sense it is because it is removing a freedom. @SW-User

When congress passes reciprocity
Never. Unfortunately. 🥺

Either when they get rid of the masses, get rid of the shooting or get rid of the America :p

My guess is the masses will be the first ones going when Supervolcano (and it's ash and debris) at Yellow Stone erupts and destroys a good part of America.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
I think it is ironic 2 is a 'mass' shooting
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@RedtheEmerald 19 vets died today.
You're right! It is 19 too many! Congratulations, mate. You're starting to get the hang of it.

Unfortunately I don’t think they will stop. If anything, Americans have proven quite prolific at lowering the bar and finding ways of justifying why it needs to be there.

I wonder what’s causing the kids to snap
I just recently graduated school so I know what it's like. My sibling is in fourth grade and they are teaching her pre-algebra. It hurts seeing her struggle.
DownTheStreet · 51-55, M
The education system will never admit they have a hand in this.@RedtheEmerald
Everyone who is in control will refuse to take responsibility when things are bad. What makes it hard is no matter how much we try to fight it ultimately we don't have the complete say in the end. It's always the 1%.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
People like you give me hope! I despair at the ostrich, head in the sand inability or refusal to see and understand why it keeps happening..
midnightsun · 26-30, M
It's already regular lol

Check Wikipedia mass shootings page. You'll see a shooting once every few days. Already 100+ this year
Those people probably didn’t feel like they had a choice. It was a matter of self defense or mental illness.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Spoiledbrat Oh, I was thinking of like Virginia Tech or something.
Oh I see. It’s hard to keep them all straight. @BlueMetalChick
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Spoiledbrat I wish that weren't a reality.

@SW-User As long as tourists come here and young people come to attend school internationally, including from your country, you might want to rethink that. 😞
