We do, but some of us hold on to what we have, both for sentimental and practical reasons.
I used to live in Massachusetts. I had a snow pusher style snow shovel. I moved to Arizona.
It sat in my closet when I lived in apartments and in my garage when I bought a house. This last winter, we had (for here) a hell of a lot of snow. While my neighbors struggled with standard shovels to clear their driveways, I took my quite old snow pusher, and cleared my driveway in about a half an hour.
Some folks saw my snow shovel in my garage, in the summer time, and probably thought, "He has too much stuff". But in the winter, it turned out, I had just enough.

Most people do
not really. over the years, I have learned that material possessions don't make me happy. it took way too long to realize it though.

People have a lot and most people just want more and more. Most people are not satisfied with anything it seems.

Probably.
And so little of it makes us 'happy'.

I personally don’t.
I will never get competitive people.
