Laws vary from between states and towns but in general if the tree sits on your property it's your responsibility

It would be in your best interests to trim it. My neighbors had a dead tree on their property. As expected it fell and crushed my fence. I had to pay for the repairs, never could get them to pay for it although it was their responsibility.

Technically it's there responsibility, at least 8n UK, but if the limb was hanging over into my property would have no qualms about cutting it.

You don’t have to (not your tree) but you can (encroaches onto your property).

I think it’s their responsibility. It’s not your tree.
