When a misfortune happens, who do you blame instinctively?

Most of the time I just chalk it up to life or blame myself because it is most likely something I did or didn't do that was the root cause of it. Sometimes it is someone else who played a major role in it, but things happen and go wrong regardless of who or what instigated it.
