Why is it so annoying to say for yourself "I'll finally be of some use" but it's okay for other people to tell others?

@bijouxbroussard Apparently. I stopped saying it years ago because people would roll their eyes and be like "ughh, you're so annoying" so I thought online people would be less judgemental and understanding but it looks like that's not the case? 🤷‍♀️

@Melpomene I recently said here that I wanted to come out of retirement and go back to work so I could “feel useful”. Nobody was unkind about it and some could relate.
