If necessary for self-defense, yes.
(if he can stop her from hitting him again without hitting her, he should do that....but he is not required to let her beat him)

the law doesn't see it that way... 9 times out of 10, the guy is the one that'll get charged with assault (even if all he does is retrain her/put her in a headlock/chokehold), even if the woman inflicted the most bodily harm and/or used a weapon

I detest violence, and although I'm generally old-fashioned about the male-female relationship, I feel that if a woman is crude and violent enough to raise her hand against her man, he has every right to defend himself.

I don't think she is acting like a woman and should be stopped. If that takes hitting her, so be it.

And of course there's always the in-between option of slapping. In a court of law, slapping someone is treated differently than punching them.

If a bully assaults you, do you have the right to also assault the bully? Legally, no. Man, woman, it makes no difference.

You do not have the legal right to hit anyone, even if they hit you first, just as homeowners do not have the right to kill burglars when they break into your home. One crime does not justify another.

If, however, someone is trying to shoot you and you throw a knife to make them stop and the knife kills the shooter, you are exempt, because that is legal self-defense.

Gender does not come into the matter of self-defense. If she is willing to throw a punch, she is willing to take a punch back. I did not fight back when my last ex beat me with a bat for wanting to break up but after the neighbors called the police, the cop said I should have just pushed her off the 2nd story balcony.

I’ve been hurt by a lot of women, I try my hardest to not hit back.

In my opinion it is never excitable for a man to hit a woman.
