Is a Boeing 737-800 the same as a 737 Max 8?

Nope. Max 8 is for lack of a better term an upgrade to the -800. Basic layout but structural chsnges, different materials for construction, improved engines and a bunch of other stuff.

You were exactly the guy I was hoping would answer, lol. Thanks! @Scubaguy027

@Zaphod42 lol. Thanks for BA

Don't fret, there have been 19 accidents involving the 737-800 as opposed to 2 for the 737-MAX-8, you're perfectly safe. But yeah, one of the annoying things is people confusing the models...

Oh, thanks! I feel much better with those statistics! Lol! Actually I don’t care...if my time is up it’s up. But my GF is a worrier. @Faust76
You asking or telling us? 🤔

Asking. We have a flight on a 737-800 in a couple weeks and my GF would rather we not die on the trip, lol @TheOneyouwerewarnedabout

@Zaphod42 Some countries are grounding Max 8s already.

No - the 737-800 and 737 Max 8 are two different airplanes.
