Amazon.com. a major company in the US, made $11,200,000,000 in profit last year. The amount of taxes it owed was Zero. This seems ethically, legally, and morally wrong, in my opinion. How to see it? Ok? Or wrong?

AMAZON is a relatively fledgling corporation compared to companies like Apple and Microsoft, Toshiba or Samsung.

The company revenues are still invested in expansion of the physical business centers, investor stock options, and employee procurement and benefit packaging.

Corporate taxes are calculated on profit. While non subsumed revenue figures called profit are actually only revenues not yet accounted to planned expenditures.

Sales tax revenues generated by the commerce increases made by Amazon are conveniently forgotten about when less thoughtful analysis is carried out on large scale investments by Bezos, but when it's the good ol boss at Tyson or the BP group, nobody at the Times or CNN seems to notice. Wonder why?

Thx 4ba. Probably can assume that there's millions of satisfied transactioners around the Ama->n

For years and years Amazon made no profits at all..
During that time it racked up over a billion dollars in tax write offs, they still have hundreds of millions of dollars left to write off against any taxes they might owe..
Couple that with off shoring of as much of their income as legally possible and they end up owing no net taxes....

Considering they still have hundreds of millions of dollars in tax credits to carry foward, we'll probably see the same thing next year..

And this is why there should be a flat tax. No loopholes or anything. Everyone pays 9% including buisnesses

@PTCdresser57 one of the problems of the flat tax is would each state collect the tax and then share with the federal government or the other way around. I think the state should collect the money and share with the federal government.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Flat tax is for federal tax only. So like me...right now I pay 30% in federal tax. If everyone including buisnesses paid the 9% instead of 0 or very little then our national debt would go away.
turbineman40 · 80-89, M
@PTCdresser57 I agree if everyone paid the flat tax the debt would change. If only the congress would apply the funds to pay off the debt and not spend it on personal projects

I think this is very common for all companies in the United States of America.

To be honest... there are some Americans who think we should pay something.

There are many Americans who believe nothing is owed.

Think about it. Our dear leader said “Mexico will pay for the wall.” It was the most asinine statement said in the decade but that’s what people think. They want a strong military and they want that wall. But suckers will pay for it. They don’t have to.

I honestly think no one should pay taxes but good for Amazon.

If people are so pissed off about it, change the law.

Of course it is wrong. But The Government allows it to go on.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Add to this the way it treats those who work for them....
Just wrong altogether.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 hell, they just raised all employees pay- took away all bonuses but no one makes under $15.00 an hour and no employees receive food stamps, businesses big and small must like individuals take advantage of all available tax credits

Ethically wrong . Legally it's not.
