I know it's unpopular - but we have no one to blame but ourselves. We make our choices and the results are ours to claim.

I did not mean by my answer that I believe there is no God. I am convinced there is. But we have freedom to choose and we're not so hot at it.

We think of time as linear which makes it impossible to comprehend eternity.

I don't know about Abrahamic religion, but in Eastern religion such as Hinduism, God is an energy or different forms of energy. And Energy can't be created nor destroyed as per thermodynamics, it just transforms. As per old Vedic script, God is everywhere and everyone in different forms of energy.
