why is science usually lumped in with technology?

why is science usually lumped in with technology? they are very different.people who are good at science don't have to know anything about technology besides how electricity works. I dont want to see technology when i want science.

Technology aims at solving problems arising due to increase in population. Just for an example, can you imagine post office recording all the parcels, letters and deliveries using the old day pen and paper to meet the demands of this huge population? I can't. That's why they use scanners which automatically stores customer's data in the database. Technology improves human lives by giving you ample amount of time to do things that people would enjoy, than doing repetitive things where the chances of making human error is pretty high and frustration skyrockets.

Another instance, imagine a job where you are made to push a button every 10 seconds. How boring it is? There's also a chance the person operating it would press the button every 8 , 9 or 11 seconds most of the time. Automating it not only removes the error, but speeds up the process an employs more people to carry the output of it.
You don't have to understand electricity to understand most technology. Also, technology is based in science. Also a wheel is a form of technology, and it incorporates physics and mathematics to understand.

Also using electronics doesn't mean you understand electricity at all.

I know what you mean to an extent. I'm very interested in the "Pure" and less the "Applied". If I want to read about ring theory, I don't want to know about gearboxes and microwave ovens.

It would have been difficult for Mr. Galilei to discover the law of falling bodies without a clock.

Without science, technology wouldn't exist.
@NankerPhelge how would you now that? maybe it would.
