Do you think success at work is more likely if you improve the way you look?

Not for me - As long as you look professional, like you are not messy, and you know what you are doing, you are committed, and you've got the right personality, you will succeed.

@BitterSweetPotato Miss Gaga - your employer is lucky to have someone like you on the staff! Just looking at the other comments, it seems there is a significant percentage of people putting way too much emphasis on the wrong things. With them as your competition, your future is secure!

If you look clean, well groomed, and appropriately dressed it makes a difference. Definitely. Couple that with good work and you are setting yourself up in the right direction for success.

People who look "put together" always fare better than those who look sloppy.

Optics are important. Perception is key.

Dress for success. I often wonder if it really holds true. I know with some employers it is the image you present that can help open doors for you.

It is my belief you should look the very best you can and if that is not good enough for people then they're just nitpicking

Nightmare.
What some may consider an improvement, others will see differently.
I've found it helps depending upon where I was employed at the time.

I could look like Madonna and it would probably be the same
It always helps to look the part .. but no guarantee
