No-but two things.
The poster should NOT be allowed to vote themselves Best Answer. EVER. They are the one asking.
I believe there should be a 48 hour period AFTER it is asked before one can award a Best Answer. That gives others , who may have had a family issue or illness, a chance to weigh in and may be the best of the replies.
A small red 'X" seen only by the poster- meaning no BA can be awarded should be shown. After the 48 is up that will leave.
However it is a good idea and one that SW should keep -but not in it's current state.

You make a good point. I wish there was at least a way to abstain from the competition on the profile.

It's a nice feature. EP used to give trophies for a certain number of BA. I liked that

It ain’t that big a deal. If your feelings are hurt that you didn’t get BA from a stranger online you need to re-evaluate your priorities.
NaturallyPeculiar · 26-30, F
Not really. I don't care who gets best answer. It doesn't offend me and I don't think anyone should be offended that they weren't acknowledged online as having the best answer for every question asked... It's life. There is always something better out there.

No it's not a bad idea. Personally I like when I get it but I'm not disappointed when I don't get it. It's nothing to be upset about. Maybe the other persons answer was better, it is based on the posters opinion.
Yes, but being rude is part of the allure of social media! Social media is a petri dish of rudeness and narcissism as well as a garden of compassion, empathy, and respect.
That just made me think of a good band or username. "RUDE GURU" as a band name, or RudeGuru as a username! Whadda ya think?

@puck61 You can't run around being courteous and not expect to have to face the consequences.
@Mamapolo2016 There ya go! Only the best philosophers come in barrels. The rest of em come in socks or Kleenexes.

@puck61 This one took me a minute. Cracker barrel philosophy?
