@xixgun Bullshit. I've just share two examples of shootings VERY CLOSE TO HOME where the nature of the "gun free zone" was used to rationalize the tragedy. The yoga studio and the synagogue.

@CopperCicada You would think people would finally lose the rhetoric about dangerous “gun-free” areas now that the [b]worst[/b] mass shooting in our country took place in [b]Nevada[/b], which also has the most lax gun laws. The myth about all those “good guys with guns” who would come in to save everyone didn’t quite materialize. But anything to keep [b]that[/b] conservative narrative running—refuted or not. 🙄

@luckranger71 that's obvious. Of course the world has violence in it. I know that. A lot of people I've been to school with and known have died. Chicago has one of the highest murder rate and its politics is very corrupt. Not saying it's the only place that has that. Just speaking on the specific area which is the topic of discussion to begin with

@Fernie I am surprised it wasn't on the news there. Of course, it was all over the news here, as we get the Chicago (WGN) news.

@CopperCicada Never. And we should NEVER expect teachers to carry and act as vigilantes. There is no reason at all we can't hire vets to work in the schools/hospitals, etc. to protect kids. But of course, that is FAR too logical of a solution and may just provide vets with jobs. My country and it's values (?) for human life is appalling.

I was in the ER a Saturday night a month back. A psyche patient was attacking staff, throwing things. Police were having a hard time containing him.

If staff was gunned up this dude so easily could have gotten armed. And of staff was shooting they'd have been shooting through curtained partitions, O2 lines. It would have been fucked up.
