I once spent an otherwise beautiful Sunday morning crying because I accidentally ran over a squirrel that darted in front of my car. I felt especially sad because it was a female and might have had young in its nest, and I feared it's babies would now starve. It's awful when things like this happen, and I really feel for you. I hope you feel better soon--there was really nothing you could do under these circumstances.

@MrAboo Every year that goes by, there are more wild animals in more urban areas. I've been in my current home 25 years and until about 8 years ago, we had NO foxes. Now we have nearly a dozen...probably more (it's hard to count them only once). They have no natural enemies since dogs are not allowed to run free anymore in urban areas.

I lived in my “town” of 1200, 4 years now. I’ve never killed an animal other than a turtle and lord knows how many bugs. The town isn’t really expanding but ebbs and flows with visitors with the seasons. Not sure where I was going with this
