Thing that gets me about all this is we're basically rewriting history to have it not be so harsh and intolerant, and we're holding our childhoods - [i]childhoods[/i] to the same standards as the adult world [i]now.[/i]

How many of us played 'Cowboys and Indians' as a kid? Guess what, we're all guilty of the crime now. Sound reasonable? Of course not. I feel this is the same thing happening here.

How far back do we go, and what power microscope do we use to pick apart our pasts to determine if we're not racists?

I’m not a fan of the right at all (really not a fan!) but the left is being hypocritical in her treatment. She only stated what was when she was growing up. She has a history. But she did nothing wrong here. In contrast...How is “black lives matter” or people calling each other the “N” word not racist? Aren’t other people of color also targeted? Don’t all lives matter? Why is it bad only when I say the N word? What about targeted women and the confirmation hearing antics? If people are really serious about stamping out inequality, racism, etc. then do it across the board with actions. Don’t practice when it’s convenient.

@Soxs45 My comment was less (not at all honestly) about her looks and more about when black face stopped being socially acceptable 🤔 Which would have been before she was born 😒 Unless she's telling us that she's from a different universe she'd have to have been well into her 70's-80's to not only have grown up around black face but to have it be something that kids dressed up as. Not to mention wasn't Halloween satanic during that time period? I'm honestly confused as to what she's talking about honestly. 🤔

No just because children do something doesn't make it not racist. Especially since more than likely it's adults teaching them these types of things and so their "innocent expression" of this is a mimicry of something that's actually racist. Intent is not the be all and end of everything.

If accidentally kill someone I'm responsible. If accidentally destroy something I am responsible. If teach my kids that black face is ok and they do it while not knowing what exactly they're doing I'm still responsible. None of the calls for racism ever fall on the children but instead the parents. Kinda like that kid dressed Hitler thing with the woman who was a teacher. There's a reason that people were angry at the mother.

If your going to say "well my child decided to do this on there own I'm not racist and never taught them this !!!!". Then be a parent and explain to them why that's not ok, wow parenting. It's almost like kids do abunch of shit that's not ok and you have to teach them because they don't know any better.

jfc this is really low hanging fruit it's not like those "cultural appropriation" debates or anything it's literally blackface. Let's just pretend we live in society with intelligent people.

Everyone seems to pull out the liberal card so fast. Most don’t know how to spell it. As a republican it makes me sick. The real point is that in this case she was not stating her opinion but fact of the way things were. Internet mentality took over. We suddenly feel it’s important to call out and hold accountable what happened 30 yrs ago. Let anyone who hasn’t cast sin cast the first stone. Everyone has a past. I don’t care if you’re the Pope. But does it really matter? Can’t people be allowed to reconcile with their past and move forward in a positive way? This if anything will tear the nation apart.
