How much money did you make at your very first job?

SW-User
I made $20-$50 per week putting Sunday newspapers together on Saturday nights. The paper carriers would just pay me out of pocket, because they didn't want to have to do it themselves. The money depended on how many carriers wanted me to do it for them that week.

I delivered newspapers on my bike before school when i was 12 and i think i made about $5 a week. Not sure how it'd equate to todays value.

@SW-User Thanks! it was a great job and really healthy. Shame they've banned it now.
SW-User
@SW-User The paper went under here, before that it got delivered by car. 🙄
SW-User
@SW-User They deliver by car here now. Apparently it's child abuse to have 12yolds working and riding their bikes around at 5am. You don't have a paper anymore where you live?

@BrokenWhiskeyGlass2 you look like you would do very well at it. it sure beats flipping burgers or working retail. you would make a fortune at it. 🌈

$6.25 as a grocery store cashier. Pretty sweet for a teenager with no expenses.
Around $4/hr, $3.75 I think. I was 16.

Idk. If being the dog of my asshole father was considered a job almost 0 or just a bit every week. Then I also did very short jobs like literally 1-2 days long.
What I can say is every job I did I always earned shit, just a bit more of minimum wage I suppose.

$18 per hour to unload a fishing trawler. It took 6 hours to unload just one. And if two or three showed up, well that was a long day. Still, not bad money for a fourteen year old.

Not including the paper route...
I think minimum was 3.65.
My first raise was a dime, I was offended.

@Dlrannie WTF, was your first job somehow connected to the mob?
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@BrokenWhiskeyGlass2 Haha - No it was perfectly legitimate modelling for a kids clothing catalogue 🙂
Not enough, my ex boss was a right bastard.
