Selfharm is a coping method or attention seeking method explain

PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]I agree with coping method yes.. I used to self harm a lot and would do almost anything to hide it from everyone though.. I get why people now think its for attention. Instagram I think helped with that a lot[/c]

@PixieParty [c=#7700B2]for me it was a release. It distracted me from what I was feeling mentally.. even if it only lasted a minute, it was a good minute

[/c] @Deadgirl [c=#7700B2]im really sorry to hear that :([/c]

@PixieParty for me it was a guilt thing i am realy clumsy and everytime i got scolded for it

Yes. Because the physical is easier to deal with them the mental/emotional pain so if you can manifest it into physical it helps take the edge off. Cutting I always thought was more attention seeking because it leaves marks that can be seen by others. But there are other ways to self harm that aren't so obvious.

@Kinknuggetyou spoke my words

considering that a majority of injuries are kept hidden, I would say mostly a coping mechanism.

The endorphins released help soothe.... but, of course, it's temporary and long term badness ensues...

Both depending on the person.

@Deadgirl like plumberries said. Some do it to cope and some will do it for attention.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M

Coping mechanism

Either way, the person is going through something mentally that needs addressed. Healthy people don't do either of these.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
It is whatever it is to the person doing it. There’s no generalisation with it
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
I dont think it needs to be explained
