Do you listen only for your turn to talk or do you listen to understand the person across from you?

Yeah sooooo..... can I have best answer?

I really try to understand the person. I admit, it isn't always easy and if I'm feeling attacked it becomes much harder to do. That's what's great about here. You can really sit with your thoughts and theirs and hopefully respond in a more meaningful way.
Sometimes what you write makes me think you're a cool chica. @Peaceful

I listen to understand.

I listen to understand most of the time. That can end a conversation when something strikes my thoughts deeper than intended. Ill think to long about it.
Depends....if they're being tedious - they have to compete with my inner critic.

I usually just end up listening the whole time
Yes. Unfortunately, to both.

@Psycho That is interesting but also shows that you don't show your interest in the speaker. This will make relationships hard in the future as they like someone engaged.

@Psycho Relationships whether family, platonic, sexual, or romantic are all based on communication. If the person you're with decided to talk about it it probably has an importance to them just like some of the things you say probably are not very important to them.
