So I took an uber pool today.

And I was called the Nword, very perplexing. I just sat smiled and sipped coffee. What would you have done?

I thought it was obvious, but yes I am white.
Poet626 · 31-35, M
@Fulcrum maybe he thought you don't identify as white. You can't be too careful these days, someone might get offended. Lol.
Over the course of my life, I have learned that there’s no point in getting upset if there does not appear to be any impending violence. Usually I find out a word’s meaning changed yesterday while I was at the laundromat.
Situational ethics has gone places Joseph Fletcher never imagined in his wildest dreams.

You’re in an Uber pool and get called the n-word. I will assume the endearment came from the driver.

If the driver is black and he seems otherwise polite and courteous, smile and sip your coffee.

If the driver is not black, tell him that word is unacceptable and don’t tip.

If some in the pool are black and they seem okay with it (if the driver’s black) then just offer a high-5.

If anybody, especially the driver, appears the tiniest bit hostile, get out and walk.
Fulcrum · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 no it wasn't the driver. It was a black passenger.
@Fulcrum Interesting. I think you handled it the best way possible. I have had similarly startling experiences on city buses.

i've been called all sorts of shit by blacks, whites.... people who have no clue what their heritage is and better find out real fast....

i just tell them, your 'race card' just maxed out.. here's a 'get out of here DNA card'.

i love to expose these so called blacks, whites, browns.. so on what they really are under that skin.

pigment is not race it's trait.

wuahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

[big](oh and i'd take a video of them being an asshole towards me and hope it goes viral and their 15 min. of fame is shot all to hell.)[/big]

Nothing. I've been called that many times by a few of my black friends and I'm a white Hispanic lol. If used in the "endearing" form, it's almost like a synonym to "man". Replace "man" with the N-word below.

"What's up mah MAN."
"Myyyyyy, MAN!"
"Check this out, my MAN"
"Can you believe this MAN?!"
"This is my MAN, Fulcrum!"

Practically the same thing, depending on how it's used lol.

But you are white?
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
oh look a melanin racist!
Mona86 · C
@sighmeupforthat but she has no pigmentzz
Fulcrum · 31-35, F
@Mona86 yes
djjohnson · 41-45, M
Nothing. The person is obviously verbally challenged. Saying anything would only confuse them.
AndyNyguy · 36-40, M
Could have replied “Thanks Honky” or “Sure thing cracker”. You know what is good for the goose kinda deal.
Was it used as endearment or epithet?
Fulcrum · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 It was used as endearment.
@Fulcrum It gets so confusing.

Let me out now.

And I would flame the driver in the review.
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
I'd be more confused than a homeless man under house arrest.
Golfer · 61-69, M
Someone called you naughty?! How dare they....
melbeacher · 56-60, M
It is very perplexing and so fucking stupid
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
But you don't look black at all.
river52 · 70-79, M
shakes head....makes no sense....
BearDownChicago · 41-45, M
What the hell is wrong with people
Mordi · 31-35, M

@Slappaho so......much....anger! Couldn’t one say the same about this response? It does drip with indignation.
