It's the human desire to be heard when speaking....being greeted with silence some will take as a harder rejection than others. It's not your problem to deal with....you can respond or not respond to whomever you please.

Hmmm. I guess they get annoyed because it seems rude. But if you are honest like you clearly are saying that don't have any interest in it, it's better. I'd feature this post if I was you, or say it in your about me. To avoid misunderstandings.
I always reply to the people I find interesting. Sooner or later. Sooner more likely. I don't like slowness.

I could not agree more. Texting is getting ridiculous. It is fine if you want to...but it should not be considered essential that you reply back and certainly not within a certain time frame if it means very little.

I do that too but no one really gets mad at me for it. If they did I’d feel like they’re being needy and suffocating me and stop talking to them for a while.

I was never big on texting either, but hated the phone because I have quite a bad hearing loss, so I settled for texting when it came available. But, only with family. I'm very patient when waiting for them to respond, because they are all busy working or raising young families. In return, they are also patient with me.

It's the same with me. It's so f****** annoying. I think a text message is (or should be) like an email. Besides, I don't get responses from the people I expect to so, whatever.
